Frequently Asked Questions About Our Beach Wheelchairs
Question: How difficult is a beach wheelchair to push?
Answer: Its easy! With balloon tires, our beach wheelchairs glide along the sand and can be pushed by most almost everyone.
Question: Can they go in the water?
Answer: Yes! Our beach wheelchairs are made of high-grade stainless steel, making them saltwater safe. The ground is a firm sand, so its common for guests to enter the water, just like in the image here, get your feet wet, and enjoy the water safely. We do recommend the wheelchairs go no deeper than the wheel axles and that a capable assistant remain with the wheelchair occupant at all times.
Question: Can these replace regular wheelchairs while we are in the area?
Answer: Unfortunately, because of the balloon tires, we do not recommend beach wheelchairs for general use. Premature wear and tear on the tires from hard surfaces, especially asphalt and concrete may occur. Please limit movement on the upland to storage areas only, without an occupant. Thank you for understanding.
Question: How can we store the wheelchairs during our rental period?
Answer: Our beach wheelchairs fit through an ADA compliant door opening of 36 inches. If this is not possible for you, you may keep them in your hotel or resort lobby area, most have closets or storage rooms, just ask the front desk. As a last resort, they may remain outside in a safe and secure location, behind a fence or gate, and out of the view of the public please.
Question: What is a mobi-mat?
Answer: Mobi-mats are long beach mats that assist wheelchairs from the dune area, to about half-way to the water in most cases. All of these are placed where there is public parking. There are 6 of these in our area. If you are open to locations, please inquire with us as to a suggested mobi-mat location.
Question: How does delivery work:
Answer: We can deliver for all rental periods. For the Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral area, we can meet you in the parking lot on the beach, at your resort or vacation home, wherever you are.
